Jesus Mendoza

Biography

Jesus Mendoza is the Head of IT and Research Computing at the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI). In this role, he provides technical and strategic leadership to support interdisciplinary research and international collaboration. On the research computing side, he focuses on delivering modern, scalable, secure, and user-friendly computing services and infrastructure capable of evolving with future technological innovations. On the operations side, he equips the institute’s administrative staff with modern and operationally efficient technologies that advance ICSI’s mission. His core approach is to deliver technology solutions from a balanced perspective across IT, Administration, and Research, enabling synergistic collaboration.

Previously, Mendoza served as Head of Research IT Services at the University of Southern California (USC) Viterbi School of Engineering, where he implemented research computing services, strengthened cybersecurity for research systems, and led efforts to meet Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification requirements within the school. 

Prior to USC, Mendoza led the design and implementation of advanced High Performance Computing systems, HIPAA-compliant cloud environments, and secure on-premises computing infrastructure supporting leading-edge research within UCLA Health and multiple academic departments at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a collaborative problem-solver and trusted advisor who bridges technology strategy with institutional goals to enable innovation, compliance, and scientific excellence.
