Visit from a U.S. University

We welcome visits from U.S. graduate students, postdocs, and early-career and senior scholars. Many visitors find ICSI a fruitful place to spend a sabbatical, enjoy our multi-functional coworking spaces, and spark collaborations.

Visit as an International Postdoc

Several prestigious fellowship programs support postdoctoral research visits to ICSI.

Visit from Germany

Postdoctoral researchers who study in Germany may apply for an ICSI-DAAD IFI International Fellowship. Supported by the DAAD International IFI Fellows Program, this opportunity provides funding for visitors to conduct research with an ICSI-affiliated mentor for a period of 6 to 24 months.

  2. Find a faculty mentor
  3. Contact us to express your interest. Applicants must get a letter of support from the ICSI Director and faculty mentor to apply to the ICSI-DAAD fellowship program. Fellows participate in the ICSI postdoc cohort events and activities, as well as work directly with a mentor on a research project of shared interest. Please send an email to visitor @ icsi.berkeley.edu to express your interest before submitting your application.
  4. Submit an application through DAAD

Visit from Finland

Doctoral and postdoctoral researchers affiliated with the University of Helsinki or Aalto University may apply for a FARIA-ICSI International Researcher Fellowship. Supported by the Finnish-American Research and Innovation Accelerator (FARIA), this program provides funding for visitors to conduct research with a mentor for a period of 6 to 12 months.
