Using conversational agents to support informed decisions
This project, “Using Intelligent Conversational Agents to Empower Adolescents to be Resilient Against Cybergrooming” aims to improve adolescent online safety through ethical, adaptive technologies that form the basis for interventions collectively known as Resilient Youth Learning through AI (RYLAI). The project addresses risks like cyberbullying, harassment, and predatory behavior with tools that are context-aware, participatory, and empowering.
Blending computer science and social science, RYLAI leverages AI and participatory design methods to ensure interventions reflect real teen experiences and uphold autonomy and privacy. Rather than imposing restrictions, the project focuses on helping teens make informed decisions and build resilience in the face of online challenges.
RYLAI envisions AI not as a gatekeeper but as a supportive partner in fostering trust between youth, parents, and platforms.
