Biography

Yaoqing Yang, PhD, is a Research Affiliate at ICSI and an Assistant Professor at Dartmouth College. His research draws inspiration from statistical learning and information theory. He studies the fundamental aspects of machine learning, with a focus on diagnosing and mitigating failures in machine learning models. His recent work advances diagnosable, generalizable, and robust deep neural networks, applying these principles to practical data analytics, including 3D point clouds and graph neural networks.

Dr. Yang completed postdoctoral work at UC Berkeley and received a PhD from Carnegie Mellon University and BS from Tsinghua University in China. He also worked as a research intern at Microsoft, MERL, and Bell Labs.
