Steve Dennis

Biography

Steve Dennis is a Research Affiliate and Research Mentor at ICSI. He is also a Professor of Practice in computer science at the University of Miami.

Dennis’ research interests include the development of strategic methods for characterizing the impact of emerging technologies on society, information sharing and privacy controls, language and media understanding, and process automation. He is currently working with the NSF Center for Accelerated Real Time Analytics (CARTA) in the development of a framework for the creation, management and marketing of digital twin models to improve cyber-physical security for critical infrastructure. He is also participating in an academic partnership with Device Authority to advance the development of open source IoT cybersecurity frameworks and teaching emerging cybersecurity technology to seniors and graduate students at the University of Miami. 

Dennis also works with a variety of organizations as a consultant for the development and execution of emerging technology strategy. He supports the translation of emerging research results into practice as a director and advisor for early and late stage startups in the development of new zero-trust cybersecurity and public safety technologies. He holds an MBA in decision technologies from the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business, an MSEE in digital electronics and pattern recognition from the University of Maryland, and a BS in computer engineering, computer architecture, and digital electronics from Clemson University.
