Lucy Sanders

Biography

Lucy Sanders serves as Chair of the ICSI Board of Trustees and Founder and Executive in Residence of the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), a national organization that works to broaden participation in computing. 

Sanders focuses on building inclusive cultures in academic computing departments and corporations and has an extensive industry background, with over 20 years of experience in R&D and executive roles at AT&T Bell Labs, Lucent Bell Labs, and Avaya Labs. A holder of six patents in the communications technology area, her expertise lies in systems-level software and solutions, including multimedia communication and customer relationship management. 

Sanders has been awarded the Bob Newman Lifetime Achievement Award from the Colorado Technology Association, inducted into the US News STEM Leadership Hall of Fame, and awarded the A. Nico Habermann Award of the Computing Research Association, among other honors. She holds a BS in Computer Science from Louisiana State University and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
