Kairi Williams

Biography

Kairi Williams is a member of the ICSI Board of Trustees and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Administration and Compliance at UC Berkeley, where he oversees management of research contract, grant administration, and research compliance programs.

At UC Berkeley, Williams is responsible for managing the operations and staff of several critical research administration and compliance units, including the Sponsored Projects Office, Office for Protection of Human Subjects, Animal Care and Use Committee, Conflict of Interest Committee, Export Control Office, Research Security, Responsible Conduct of Research program, and Research Administration and Compliance Information Technology unit. Collaborating with senior leadership, faculty, and external partners, he ensures adherence to federal, state, and institutional regulations while fostering research excellence and innovation. With expertise in strategic planning, policy development, and budget management, Williams focuses on enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of research administration and compliance functions.

Prior to his current position, Williams served as the Associate Vice Provost for Research Operations and Compliance in the Office of Research and Innovation at Drexel University. In this role, he was responsible for research compliance programs as well as finance and administration responsibilities, including centrally reporting research centers and institutes, shared services, and research core facilities. Williams earned a BA in accounting from Widener University and an MA in business administration from Drexel University.
