Biography

Fred Roosta, PhD, is a Senior Research Scientist at ICSI. He is also a Professor in the School of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Queensland, Australia. In addition, he is a Theme Leader in the Australian Research Council Centre for Information Resilience.

Dr. Roosta’s research interests span several areas of applied mathematics and computer science, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, numerical optimization, scientific computing, computational statistics, and distributed and high-performance computing. His work explores theoretical and algorithmic approaches to address modern data analysis challenges.

Prior to joining the University of Queensland, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at ICSI and in the Department of Statistics at UC Berkeley. He was also an Associate Investigator with the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Mathematical and Statistical Frontiers. Dr. Roosta obtained his PhD from the University of British Columbia.
