David Mongeau

Biography

David Mongeau serves on the ICSI Board of Trustees and is Emeritus Director of the School of Data Science and Professor of Practice at University College at The University of Texas at San Antonio. 

As Founding Director of the School of Data Science at The University of Texas at San Antonio, Mongeau led the school in advancing research, education, and meaningful partnerships with government, industry, and community stakeholders. Before that role, he was the executive director for the Berkeley Institute for Data Science at UC Berkeley and co-led the data analytics institute at The Ohio State University. He also championed the concept and developed the original proposal for a new company that was launched with $42 million from seven corporations to meet advanced analytics and cybersecurity needs. 

Earlier in his career, Mongeau spent 25 years in communications, data, IT, and networking research at Bell Labs (Alcatel, Lucent, AT&T). In his time at Bell Labs, he launched a global consulting practice for digital transformation and worked on the first C++ language compiler. Mongeau holds a BS from Carnegie Mellon University, an MS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an MBA from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University.
